TechIsland®, in collaboration with Women in Tech® Cyprus and ISACA Europe, recently launched and concluded the Cybersecurity Certification Support Programme, a local scholarship initiative aimed at supporting more women in Cyprus in taking their first steps into cybersecurity.
As AI, technology, and digital tools become part of every sector, technical understanding is increasingly becoming a form of literacy. Cybersecurity is a key part of this shift. It is no longer relevant only to specialised technical teams, but to professionals across industries who need to understand how to navigate, protect, and operate within the digital world.
With this in mind, the initiative was designed to create a practical and accessible entry point into cybersecurity for women from different backgrounds, including students, beginners, career changers, professionals already working in tech, and those simply interested in expanding their digital skills.
Through the programme, five selected participants will receive free access to the ISACA Europe Cybersecurity Fundamentals Certificate. The certificate is designed to help learners build foundational cybersecurity knowledge, covering areas such as information security fundamentals, cyber threats and risk awareness, security operations and response, and the protection of digital assets.
The programme is facilitated under the framework of the SHE@CYBER project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, where ISACA was one of the consortium partners.
Following an open application process and review by a Selection Committee, the five selected participants are:
Alena Ivanova
Sofia Michaelidou
Polina Georgakopoulou
Anna Nikolova
Georgia Stavrou
By removing the cost barrier, this scholarship opportunity gives more women in Cyprus the chance to explore one of the most important and fast-growing fields of the digital economy. The initiative reflects TechIsland’s broader commitment to supporting upskilling, digital readiness, and a more diverse and inclusive tech ecosystem in Cyprus.
TechIsland congratulates the selected participants and looks forward to seeing them take the next step in their cybersecurity learning journey.
Thank you also to the Selection Committee: Christodoulos Papadopoulos, Founder & CEO at Geevo, Tanya Romanyukha, General Manager at TechIsland® and Director of Women in Tech®Cyprus, Gustavo Frega, Senior Academic Strategy and Business Partnership Manager at ISACA and Pambos Pantziaros, Partner at Vernian RTI.
