1. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
1.1 These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "Member," "you," or "your") and TECHISLAND LTD (operating as "TechIsland," "we," "us," or "our"), a non-profit organization registered in Cyprus.
1.2 By accessing our website (www.thetechisland.org), registering for membership, participating in our events, making payments, or using any of our services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.
1.3 If you are accepting these Terms on behalf of a company or other legal entity, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind such an entity to these Terms, in which case the terms "you" or "your" shall refer to such entity.
1.4 If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use our website or services.
2. ABOUT TECHISLAND
2.1 Organization Overview
TechIsland is a non-profit organization established in Spring 2021 with the goal of representing the interests of the technology sector in Cyprus. Organisation’s mission is to transform Cyprus into a leading tech hub and a world-class destination for talent and businesses.
2.2 Independence and Funding
TechIsland is a private body functioning under special law and is financially independent, free of any influence by the state. The organization is funded by its members' subscription fees, donations, and through income generated from services it provides.
2.3 Mission and Activities
TechIsland acts as an Association of Cyprus-based businesses, promoting their interests by:
Engaging with the government to optimize regulation, taxation, and immigration frameworks for the tech sector.Fostering professional networks such as HR, FinPro, MarComms, and Women in Tech, and running knowledge-sharing events.Submitting positions to the government and Parliament on relevant mattersParticipating in bodies and committeesConveying and promoting the views of the tech communityOrganizing events, summits, and networking opportunitiesProviding educational programs and resources

3.1 Permitted Use

4. MEMBERSHIP
4.1 Membership Categories
TechIsland offers various membership categories:
Regular Member: Technology companies based in CyprusVC Member: Venture capital firmsAssociated Member: Individual professionals
4.2 Membership Levels
Membership levels are determined based on the member company's headcount in Cyprus:
Community: Basic membership benefitsSupporting: Enhanced benefits and visibilityContributor: Premium benefits and visibilityBoard Member: Premium benefits and strategic involvementDonor: Highest tier
4.3 Membership Application
4.3.1 Membership applications must be submitted through our official channels with accurate contact and company information.
4.3.2 By submitting a membership application, you consent to TechIsland processing your information for membership purposes.
4.3.3 TechIsland reserves the right to accept or reject any membership application at its discretion.
4.3.4 Approved applicants will receive a Membership Agreement for signature and payment instructions.
4.3.5 Membership is activated upon receipt of signed agreement and payment of applicable fees.
4.4 Membership Term
4.4.1 Membership is valid for one (1) year from the enrollment date.
4.4.2 Membership renews automatically unless written notice is provided at least one (1) month before the renewal date.
4.4.3 Renewal is subject to payment of the annual membership fee.
5. PAYMENT TERMS
5.1 Fees and Charges
5.1.1 All fees are quoted in Euros (EUR) unless otherwise specified.
5.1.2 Membership fees are determined by TechIsland's Board of Directors and may be updated annually.
5.1.3 Event fees and other charges are as advertised on our website or communications.
5.2 Payment Methods
5.2.1 Payments can be made through:
Online Payments: Securely processed through ECOMMBX, a CBC-regulated financial institution and principal member of Visa and MastercardBank Transfer: Direct transfer to our Bank of Cyprus or Hellenic Bank accounts (details provided upon request)
5.2.2 By providing payment information for online payments, you authorize us to charge the applicable fees to your payment method.
5.2.3 For bank transfers, payment is confirmed upon receipt of funds in our account.
5.2.4 You are responsible for any additional charges imposed by your financial institution.
5.3 Billing
5.3.1 Membership fees are due on the anniversary of the Member's enrollment date.
5.3.2 Invoices will be issued for all transactions.
5.3.3 Payment is due within the timeframe specified on the invoice.
5.4 Refund Policy
5.4.1 Membership Fees: Annual membership fees are NON-REFUNDABLE once paid.
5.4.2 Event Registrations:
Full refund if cancelled more than 14 days before the event50% refund if cancelled 7-14 days before the eventNo refund if cancelled less than 7 days before the eventSubstitutions may be allowed with prior written approval
5.4.3 Sponsorships:
Sponsorship fees are generally non-refundable once the agreement is signedRefunds may be provided if:
TechIsland cancels the event or terminates the agreement (except for sponsor breach)Sponsor terminates due to TechIsland's material breach after proper notice and opportunity to cureSpecific refund terms are governed by individual sponsorship agreements
5.4.4 Force Majeure: Full refunds will be provided for events cancelled by TechIsland due to circumstances beyond our control.
5.5 Late Payments
5.5.1 TechIsland reserves the right to suspend membership benefits for overdue accounts.
5.5.2 Interest may be charged on overdue amounts at the statutory rate.
6. MEMBER OBLIGATIONS
6.1 General Obligations
Members agree to:
Commit to TechIsland's shared mission and principlesProvide accurate and updated informationPay fees promptly when dueConduct themselves professionally at all TechIsland events and platforms
6.2 Code of Conduct
Members must not:
Engage in harassment, discrimination, or offensive behaviorMisrepresent their affiliation with TechIslandUse TechIsland branding without authorizationViolate Cyprus laws or regulationsDamage the interests or reputation of TechIsland
6.3 Participation Expectations
Subject to availability of resources and consistent with their own mission and policies, Members are expected to:
Collaborate and engage on issuesShare knowledge and best practicesContribute to Working Groups and initiativesSupport the development of the tech ecosystem in Cyprus
7. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
7.1 TechIsland Property
7.1.1 All content on this website, including text, graphics, logos, images, and software, is the property of TechIsland or its licensors and is protected by copyright laws.
7.1.2 The TechIsland name, logo, and all related marks are trademarks of TechIsland.
7.1.3 You may not use, reproduce, or distribute any content from this website without our written permission.
7.2 User Content
7.2.1 By submitting content to our website or platforms, you grant TechIsland a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, reproduce, modify, and distribute such content.

9.2 Event Changes
9.2.1 TechIsland reserves the right to modify event dates, times, locations, speakers, or formats.
9.2.2 We will provide reasonable notice of any significant changes.
9.2.3 Changes do not entitle participants to refunds unless the event is cancelled entirely.
9.3 Conduct at Events
9.3.1 All participants must adhere to our Code of Conduct at events.
9.3.2 We reserve the right to remove any participant who violates our policies without refund.
9.4 Recording and Photography
9.4.1 By attending TechIsland events, you consent to being photographed, filmed, or recorded.
9.4.2 You grant TechIsland the right to use such materials for promotional and educational purposes.
9.4.3 If you do not wish to be recorded, you must notify us in writing before the event.
10. DISCLAIMERS AND LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY

11. TERMINATION
11.1 Termination by Member
11.1.1 Members may terminate their membership by providing written notice to tanya@thetechisland.org at least one (1) month before the renewal date.
11.1.2 Termination does not entitle members to any refund of fees paid.
11.2 Termination by TechIsland
11.2.1 TechIsland may terminate or suspend membership for:
Non-payment of feesViolation of these Terms or the Membership AgreementActions that damage TechIsland's interests or reputationNon-adherence to TechIsland's mission and principles
11.2.2 Termination for cause requires a majority vote of the Executive Committee.
11.2.3 No refunds will be provided for termination due to violation of terms.
11.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination:
All rights and privileges of membership cease immediatelyAny outstanding fees become immediately dueYou must cease using TechIsland branding and materialsYour access to member-only resources will be revoked
12. FORCE MAJEURE
TechIsland shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to:
Acts of God or naturePandemic or epidemicGovernment actions or regulationsWar, terrorism, or civil unrestLabor disputesFailure of utilities or communications networks
13. GOVERNING LAW AND DISPUTES
13.1 Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
13.2 Dispute Resolution
13.2.1 Any disputes arising from these Terms shall first be addressed through good faith negotiations.
13.2.2 If negotiations fail, disputes shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Cyprus.
13.2.3 The courts of Limassol shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
13.3 Time Limitation
Any claim arising from these Terms must be brought within one (1) year after the cause of action arises.
14. GENERAL PROVISIONS
14.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and any Membership Agreement, constitute the entire agreement between you and TechIsland.
14.2 Amendments
14.2.1 TechIsland reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time.
14.2.2 Changes will be effective upon posting to our website.
14.2.3 Your continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance.
14.3 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
14.4 Waiver
No waiver of any term shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver of such term or any other term.
14.5 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our written consent. TechIsland may assign these Terms without restriction.

16. PAYMENT PROCESSING NOTICE

Bank Transfers: Available to Bank of Cyprus and Hellenic Bank accounts. Account details provided upon request.
